Sun Belt listings show more sellers pricing below what they paid

In several Sun Belt housing markets, nearly 1 in 5 sellers are asking less than their original purchase price, according to MarketWatch.

MarketWatch examined housing data across 10 markets and found that in some Sun Belt areas, a significant share of sellers are listing homes for less than what they paid.

The outlet reports that nearly 1 in 5 sellers in those markets are seeking a lower price than their purchase cost.

The pattern points to sellers in parts of the Sun Belt adjusting prices to compete in local conditions, the analysis suggests.

The data were summarized by MarketWatch in a look at the 10 housing markets with the highest rates of sellers listing below their purchase prices.
