Truth Social faces lawsuit over $100,000-per-month early access service
The suit, filed in New York federal court, says selling priority access to market-moving presidential posts creates an unfair advantage for paying firms.
Donald Trump is facing a lawsuit over a new Truth Social service that charges as much as $100,000 per month for early access to his posts, which arrive seconds before they appear for the general public, according to BBC Business.
The complaint was filed Wednesday by The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation in New York federal court. The plaintiffs argue that selling priority access to messages from the president raises serious concerns, calling the arrangement extraordinary, corrupt and unconstitutional, and they say it amounts to an unfair advantage for those who can pay.
The lawsuit contends that the short time gap matters because Trump often uses the platform to announce major developments that can move financial markets, including during the Iran war. The plaintiffs also point to more than 10 firms that they say pay up to $100,000 a month for fast access to Truth Social posts.
Trump Media and Technology Group has dismissed concerns, saying the product is aimed at businesses seeking faster data feeds. The company previously unveiled the service, called Truth API, in mid-July and described it as delivering posts from Trump and other high-profile accounts in milliseconds, the BBC reported.
