Neutrl pauses minting and redemptions on reserve assessment

The pause is limited to Strata’s Neutrl market contracts, where two tranche tokens collectively show more than $1.7 million in on-chain value.

Neutrl, a market-neutral yield protocol, paused minting, redemptions, and other protocol functions on Thursday, citing circumstances affecting protocol reserves. The protocol said it is acting on advice from legal counsel to preserve an orderly process while the reserve impact is assessed, and it did not identify the cause or quantify how reserves may be affected.

Neutrl’s synthetic dollar token, NUSD, has a market capitalization of about $53.3 million. Strata, which offers structured yield products, then paused minting, redemptions, and related functions specifically on its Neutrl market contracts, adding that its other markets continue operating normally.

Strata’s Neutrl market uses two tokens built on yield-bearing sNUSD: a senior tranche, srNUSD, and a junior tranche, jrNUSD. Documentation describes jrNUSD as first-loss capital intended to absorb underlying strategy risks before the senior tranche, and Etherscan showed about $1.4 million in on-chain market cap for srNUSD and roughly $308,506 for jrNUSD.

Under normal conditions, users can redeem srNUSD or jrNUSD for NUSD or sNUSD, with fees and cooldowns varying by tranche and the market’s senior-coverage level. Neutrl said users will receive a clear and orderly process in due course and expects its next update to provide timing and next steps while minting and redemptions remain paused.
