GBPUSD breaks to highest level since May, above key breakout zone
The pair reached 1.3561 after clearing the 50% retracement level at 1.3503 and the July high area, with 1.3543 now acting as key support.
GBPUSD pushed sharply higher, climbing to 1.3561, its highest level since May 12, according to Forexlive.
The rally moved the pair above several technical levels, including the 100-hour moving average and the 50% retracement of the 2026 trading range at 1.3503, and it cleared the July high area around 1.35573.
Forexlive also pointed to a breakout on the 4-hour chart above a swing area between 1.3543 and 1.3557, which now becomes important support, with a close back below 1.3543 flagged as a key risk level.
On the upside, the next target highlighted was the 61.8% retracement at 1.3589, with an eventual push toward the April highs near 1.3657 and the 2026 high at 1.38671 discussed as further upside levels if the breakout holds.
