AirJoule Technologies targets data center water demand with air-to-water units
The company says its Prime system can produce up to 2,000 liters of distilled water per day and is designed to avoid hard water-permit hurdles that have delayed AI data center projects.
AirJoule Technologies (NASDAQ:AIRJ) is positioning its air-to-water technology as a solution to a growing constraint for AI data centers, where operators face difficulty securing water supplies for cooling, Yahoo Finance reports.
The company is developing two systems, including a smaller Core unit aimed at homes and smaller sites, and a larger Prime unit built for heavy industrial use that can make up to 2,000 liters of distilled water a day.
AirJoule says its equipment is intended to produce water on site by pulling it from the air, helping operators potentially bypass permit fights and avoid draining local supplies, a point it ties to delays that have derailed some multibillion-dollar AI data center projects.
The article also highlights partnerships, including a joint venture with GE Vernova to build and commercialize the systems, an agreement with Carrier Global to bring the technology to market, and a deal where Kubota bought two systems and received exclusive rights for housing sales in Texas and California, plus a step toward a water purchase agreement with Nexus Data Centers in Hubbard, Texas.
