Heathrow roads reopen after flooding disrupted access to Terminals 2 and 3

The airport said the leak from a burst water main was contained and it recorded more than 267,000 passengers on July 19, its busiest day of the year so far.

Heathrow Airport said all roads reopened after flooding from a burst water main restricted access to Terminals 2 and 3 on Saturday morning.

The disruption included blocked routes to and from Terminals 2 and 3, and access to Heathrow carparks was also impeded, leaving parked cars unreachable by road. Heathrow told passengers to avoid traveling by road and instead use rail and the tube.

Heathrow said the water issue in the central terminal area was contained and the affected areas were operating normally, with the airport continuing to operate as normal overall.

The outlet said the problem occurred during the school holidays, one of the airport’s busiest periods, and noted the airport previously faced rail disruptions after a separate water leak prompted the closure of a tunnel.
