For the week, the ETF industry saw nearly $50 billion in net inflows, with equity ETFs accounting for almost $31 billion and SPY adding $6.4 billion.
The week ended Aug. 13 brought nearly $50 billion in net inflows to the U.S.-listed ETF market, with equity ETFs capturing most of the new dollars, totaling nearly $31 billion. Of that equity total, about $23 billion went into domestically focused funds, according to ETF Trends.
SPY led the pack among U.S.-listed ETFs with $6.4 billion in inflows, while two other S&P 500 trackers also made the top tier. The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) recorded inflows of $3.8 billion to take the No. 4 spot, and the State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) followed in fifth place with $2 billion.
Invesco’s Nasdaq exposure also drew strong inflows, with the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) adding $6.2 billion. Its sister fund, the Invesco Nasdaq 100 ETF (QQQM), placed No. 7 with $1.4 billion, while the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) rounded out the top three with $5 billion.
On the fixed-income side, the iShares 0-3 month Treasury Bond ETF (SGOV) added $1.7 billion and landed at No. 6, as currency and leveraged ETFs were the only asset classes to see outflows. ETF Trends also noted the S&P 500 index underlying SPY hit a new record level above 7,800 for the first time on Thursday during the week.
