Aon launches Sidecar X with up to $200 million for R&W and tax cover

The platform uses pre-agreed underwriting and claims frameworks to cut execution time and aims to deliver a 10.0% premium discount versus standard market terms.

Aon has launched Sidecar X, a platform designed to link insurer capacity with representations and warranties and tax insurance products for transactional risk coverage placed through the broker.

Sidecar X will offer up to $200 million in dedicated capacity, operating via pre-agreed underwriting parameters, claims handling protocols, and pricing terms. Aon said the pre-commitment reduces execution time and results in a 10.0% premium reduction compared with standard market terms.

The platform is available exclusively to Aon clients in the US, Canada, UK, the European Economic Area, and Asia. Coverage includes representations and warranties insurance, known as R&W in North America and warranty and indemnity insurance in the UK and Europe, plus tax insurance products.

Aon framed the launch amid a market repricing for transactional risk. According to Insurance Business citing Gallagher data, R&W rates in North America rose 16.0% year-on-year in 2025, with average quoted rates increasing from 2.5% in Q4 2024 to 3.23% in Q4 2025, while Aon said its 2026 claims study found North American clients recovered more than $440 million in R&W claims in 2025. Aon also pointed to rising global deal values, citing McKinsey research that 2025 M&A reached nearly $5 trillion and that transactions above $10 billion were at their highest count since the 2021 post-COVID peak.
