Chainalysis challenges ICE sole-source award to TRM Labs

The contract, valued at about $94.6 million, covers forensic software and support services for Homeland Security Task Force investigations.

Blockchain analytics company Chainalysis has sued the United States government after Immigration and Customs Enforcement awarded a sole-source contract to TRM Labs, according to Cointelegraph.

Chainalysis Government Solutions filed the challenge in the US Court of Federal Claims on July 27. The award notice put the value of the contract at about $94.6 million, covering forensic software and support services for Homeland Security Task Force investigations, with a one-year term running from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

Chainalysis alleged ICE’s decision was arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable. In the motion, Chainalysis said it submitted a capability statement in response to ICE’s notice seeking forensic software and support services from TRM.

The complaint remains under seal because it includes Chainalysis confidential information and trade secrets. TRM intervened on July 28, the court scheduled government and TRM responses for Friday, and oral argument is set for Sept. 2, with the government requesting a decision by Sept. 10.
