EU operators face deadline to halt transactions with 14 crypto platforms
The week also centers on FOMC minutes, with one economist seeing only a 25% chance of a Fed hike in September.
A major regulatory milestone for crypto is due this week in the European Union, where operators face a Sunday deadline to stop transactions with 14 named crypto platforms, according to CoinDesk.
The outlook for digital asset prices is also expected to hinge on macro signals, including the Federal Reserve’s latest deliberations. CoinDesk highlights Wednesday’s FOMC minutes as a key update on whether the Fed is considering additional interest-rate increases.
CoinDesk points to Adam Posen, president of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, who put the odds of a Fed hike in September at 25%. Posen instead expects the first move to come in December, even as he forecasts inflation rising again in early 2027.
The week includes additional crypto market catalysts alongside the regulatory deadline. CoinDesk lists scheduled token unlocks such as LayerZero’s Aug. 20 unlock of 4.5% of circulating supply, and Avalanche’s Aug. 21 unlock of 0.7%.
