Securian Financial raises corporate retention for individual life cases to $10M
The higher retention limit took effect August 1, 2026, increasing Securian’s capacity for larger face amounts and more complex case designs.
Securian Financial said it has increased its corporate retention on individual life insurance cases from $5 million to $10 million, a change aimed at supporting affluent customers and competing for larger, more complex policies. The company said the move gives it more flexibility to retain additional risk internally while continuing its underwriting and risk management standards.
The updated retention limit took effect August 1, 2026. Securian said it will be able to handle higher face amounts and expand support for jumbo and multi-carrier case designs.
Securian also framed the adjustment as an investment in its large-case capabilities for distribution partners. The company said the change is intended to provide greater support to financial professionals placing business with Securian in the high-net-worth market.
Coverager reported on the update, noting that Jake Jones, Securian Financial second vice president and actuary for Individual Solutions, said the company is evolving to meet the needs of its distribution partners and their clients.
