Stocks slide at open as Treasury yields and oil rise
The Nasdaq fell 1.0% at the open, with tech and chip stocks leading the declines as borrowing-cost and inflation worries resurfaced.
Stocks fell at the open as Treasury yields and oil prices continued rising, according to a Yahoo Finance market heat map.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.0%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.2% and the S&P 500 declined 0.5%.
Technology stocks dragged on the indexes, with chip names moving lower, as Nvidia slid 2.0% and Intel dropped 5.0%.
In contrast, the Energy sector rose as global oil prices climbed above $90, while several semiconductor and hardware names including Micron, Applied Materials, and Lam Research were among actively viewed stocks.
