Toyota Finance launches tokenized 1 billion yen bond for retail buyers
The one-year bond pays a 1.72% annual interest rate and starts at 100,000 yen ($676), with applications available through Toyota Wallet without a securities account.
Toyota Finance has opened applications for a new tokenized bond aimed at retail investors in Japan, purchasable directly through the Toyota Wallet mobile payment app, according to Cointelegraph.
The offering is a one-year bond worth 1 billion yen, with a stated 1.72% annual interest rate. Investors can begin with 100,000 Japanese yen, or about $676, and can buy the bond without opening a securities account.
Toyota Finance said the bond will be distributed directly by the company, with applications, communications with bondholders, and investor benefits handled within the same ecosystem. Blockchain infrastructure for the issuance is provided by Japanese security token firm BOOSTRY.
The carmaker also said investors may receive balances in Toyota Wallet and qualify for perks such as Fuji Speedway tickets and test-drive experiences, including Lexus and selected classic Toyota vehicles. Cointelegraph also notes this is Toyota Finance’s second security token bond, after a debut issuance sold through securities companies in March 2025.
