Twelve Securis eyes growth in Asia for catastrophe bonds
The ILS manager said its expansion includes two new distribution partnerships in Taiwan as it seeks more institutional capital for cat bonds across the region.
Twelve Securis, a specialist catastrophe bond and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager, said Asia offers growth opportunities for the ILS market as it expands distribution. In an interview with Artemis, Vittorio Sangiorgio, head of investment solutions at Twelve Securis, highlighted multiple markets where the firm is particularly active, including South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia.
Sangiorgio said cat bond use is positive in Japan, adding that Japanese interest is rising even as he noted the Japanese market is less keen on private ILS structures after prior experiences in 2017. He also pointed to Singapore and Hong Kong as areas of interest among family offices, describing a smaller starting allocation and an education step for investors, but strong potential for cat bonds.
Artemis also reported that Twelve Securis has set up two new distribution partnerships in Taiwan, naming Concord Capital Management and Uni-President as part of its effort to broaden access to catastrophe bonds. The firm said it is looking to attract institutional capital while building distribution with wealth management channels in markets where allocations to ILS are still emerging.
