Cibus unit Interoc expands rice trait testing, revenue rises
Cibus reported 1H26 revenue up 36% to $2.7 million, with Sustainable Ingredients still driving results while rice commercialization shifts toward 2028.
Cibus Inc. said its rice commercialization efforts advanced as Interoc testing expanded from two traits to five, though the initial LATAM launch timing moved to 2028. The company also said sustainable ingredients work drove 36% year-to-date revenue growth, while next steps for BioFragrance scale-up orders remain targeted for the second half of 2026.
In the update, Cibus attributed a 6.5% year-over-year increase in 2Q26 revenue to $1.0 million to Sustainable Ingredients collaboration activity. For the first half of 2026, revenue rose to $2.7 million from $2.0 million.
The company also reported that research and selling, general and administrative expenses declined by about $5 million year over year, and that quarterly cash usage fell 19% sequentially despite targeted technology and personnel investment. Cibus added that deeper seed-company relationships and improved regulatory alignment across the U.S., LATAM and Europe are intended to broaden the platform opportunity and support additional commercialization pathways.
Cibus said a new CEO, Craig Wichner, appointed in June after joining the board in November 2025, is focusing on commercial execution. The company described three monetization pathways, including platform-program revenue, per-acre trait royalties, and multi-trait relationships with seed-company partners, with rice remaining the first significant test of its royalty model.
