Medicare Advantage satisfaction drops as members report lower trust

Overall satisfaction fell 12 points this year to 611 on a 1,000-point scale, JD Power said, with trust and communication among the biggest declines.

Insurance Business reports a new JD Power study found fewer than half of Medicare Advantage members strongly agree their plan insurer is a trusted partner in their health and wellness.

According to JD Power, overall member satisfaction fell 12 points in 2026 to 611 on a 1,000-point scale, and the two-year decline since 2024 totals 41 points. The study attributed the change to rising complexity and costs, along with communication gaps and narrower networks.

The biggest two-year drops among satisfaction measures were “helping to save me time and money” (-51 points), “level of trust” (-49 points), and “product/coverage offerings meet my needs” (-47 points). JD Power said the survey results have implications for brokers advising clients on plan selection, particularly during the initial enrollment period.

JD Power based the study on responses from 14,559 Medicare Advantage members across 12 markets, fielded from January through June. The report said Medicare Advantage now covers 35.2 million people, or 55 percent of all eligible Medicare beneficiaries, and that confusion is highest for new members who do not understand their coverage.
