Monzo users face card payment and transfer outages
The British digital bank said it had activated a backup service, Monzo Stand-in, but some customers reported it was not working as expected.
Monzo said some of its customers were unable to use their cards for payments or to make bank transfers after a technical problem with its banking service, BBC Business reports. The bank activated a stand-in backup option, Monzo Stand-in, which it said should still allow transactions such as card payments and sending and receiving bank transfers, as well as features like cash withdrawals and freezing cards. However, some users reported the backup was not functioning as promised, including problems making bank transfers.
Monzo said it was rolling out a fix to restore full service for everyone, and that customers could still use Monzo Stand-in while the issue was being resolved. The firm, which was launched in 2015 and operates through a mobile-first app, said it has more than 16 million personal and business customers worldwide.
According to BBC Business, while the support appeared to work for some users, others continued to report access problems during the outage.
