VettaFi webcast outlines how multi-factor stock picks blend fundamentals and momentum
The discussion links TipRanks analyst-consensus data with technical timing to help investors find stocks with both business support and price strength.
A recent VettaFi webcast focused on why high-conviction stock selection often requires more than either analyst ratings or price momentum alone. According to ETF Trends, the session argued that investors need to understand why analysts favor a company and whether the stock is showing market momentum.
Panelists said traditional market-cap weighted benchmarks are becoming more concentrated in a small group of mega-cap tech names, making multi-factor approaches more relevant. Live audience polling also reflected interest in combining growth, momentum, quality, and value factors instead of choosing between them, ETF Trends reported.
VettaFi and its guests described a mismatch they see with single-discipline strategies. They said fundamental analysis can identify business quality and valuation, but it may miss timing and sentiment, while pure momentum strategies can highlight stocks that have recently risen without confirming whether earnings and sales support continued gains.
The webcast described a fundamental component built around sell-side analyst consensus, with TipRanks CEO Uri Gruenbaum explaining that TipRanks aggregates and measures research from thousands of financial experts. ETF Trends reported that the approach uses aggregated conviction across the 500 largest companies to provide what it called an objective research quality filter alongside technical indicators.
