W. R. Berkley taps Hena Choi to lead Berkley Re Asia casualty

Choi will be based in Singapore and brings more than two decades of casualty and financial lines underwriting experience.

W. R. Berkley Corporation has appointed Hena Choi as the new Head of Casualty for Berkley Re Asia, a role based in Singapore, according to Insurance holding company.

Berkley Re said Choi has more than 20 years of experience spanning casualty underwriting, financial lines, and specialty products, and that her leadership is intended to complement the reinsurer’s existing regional capabilities.

The reinsurer noted that most of Choi’s career was spent as an Underwriting Principal at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance in Korea, where she developed expertise including casualty, Fin/Pro, and specialty underwriting.

Berkley Re added that Choi began her career in 1998 as a Process Engineer at LG Display, also in Korea.
