EUR/USD rises toward 1.17 as dollar softens
EUR/USD trades above 1.1700 after ECB rate hike odds were reinforced by July Eurozone CPI meeting expectations.
EUR/USD climbed toward 1.17, buoyed by renewed US dollar weakness, according to a note from Chang Wei Liang at DBS Group Research cited by FXStreet.
FXStreet said July Eurozone CPI matched expectations for both headline and core, strengthening market conviction around a potential European Central Bank rate hike in September, with about 26 basis points priced and a very high implied probability.
FXStreet also highlighted that the euro was the main beneficiary of dollar softness, with the pair at its highest level in three months above 1.1700 in European trading.
Beyond FX, the same report pointed to follow through from US Treasurys-related news, while noting investors were also looking ahead to US Jobless Claims data and Middle East headlines for additional trading impetus.
