Hannover Re Capital Partners expands Bermuda ILS platform in 2026

The reinsurance group says Hannover Re Capital Partners is operational and has already deployed partner capital since launching at the start of 2026, as it expands the team and platform structures to broaden investor access.

Hannover Re is continuing to build out its Bermuda-based insurance-linked securities platform, Hannover Re Capital Partners, during 2026, with the reinsurance firm saying the unit is operational and has already deployed partner capital.

Hannover Re launched Hannover Re Capital Partners at the beginning of 2026, and earlier executives said the unit began writing business at the January 1, 2026 reinsurance renewals. The platform is intended as a complement to Hannover Re’s existing ILS offering, including collateralised fronting, cat bond-related activities, and ILS Life.

The company has also been strengthening leadership for the new business unit. Hannover Re’s Bermuda P and C leader Michael Eberhardt took the CEO role for Hannover Re Capital Partners, while Head of ILS Patrick Horstmann became a Director of the unit, and Aaron García Ehrhardt was confirmed as Head of Capital and Underwriting.

Looking ahead, Hannover Re said it will continue building the platform to support growth of the ILS strategies being offered, including structures designed to broaden the investor base and give investors more direct, efficient access. The company did not provide details on assets deployed, and while sources suggest capital deployment in the low hundreds of millions of dollars, it was not confirmed.
