Matthew Overall set to become Howden Re’s managing director, retro
Overall will start the new MD role in 2027 after completing his contractual obligations at Guy Carpenter, where he has worked for nearly nine years.
Howden Re announced the appointment of Matthew Overall as Managing Director, Retro, a London-based role within the reinsurance broker’s retrocession business.
Overall is scheduled to take over in 2027 after finishing his contractual obligations with his current employer, Guy Carpenter. He is joining Howden Re after close to nine years at Guy Carpenter, most recently as Managing Director in the firm’s Non-Marine Specialties within Global Specialties.
Before his tenure at Guy Carpenter, Overall spent four years as a reinsurance broker at Aon. At Howden Re, he will report to Alex Bridges, CEO Global Retro, and is expected to help drive the continued growth of the company’s global retrocession platform.
In connection with the announcement, Howden Re emphasized the strategic importance of retro as a growth area and said its retro audience includes 225,000+ readers per month and 27,000+ email subscribers, describing it as a key capability for clients.
