Specsavers resumes dividend to Perkins-controlled parent after profit jump
The UK and international optician said it paid about £258m to independent partners and lifted sales to £4.3bn, with pre-tax profit rising to £429.7m for the year to February.
Specsavers has restarted dividend payments to its Perkins-controlled parent, Specsavers International Healthcare Limited, after reporting a rise in earnings for the year to February.
The company said pre-tax profits increased to £429.7m and sales grew 7% to £4.3bn, and it paid £12m to the parent after no dividend was issued the prior year.
Alongside the parent dividend, Specsavers shared out almost £258m to its hundreds of independent partners, up from £239m a year earlier.
The Guardian Business reported that Specsavers previously paused dividends due to economic and political uncertainty and expansion investment, and it attributed the rebound to cost control and efforts to keep inflation impacts in check while continuing long-term investment.
