Wendy's shares slide as bearish signals cluster around $8.53
Wendy's stock is down 1% at $8.53, with 33.96% of the available float sold short and 17 of 22 analysts rating it hold or worse.
Wendy's shares were last seen down 1% at $8.53 on Aug. 19, extending the pullback from $9, after the stock’s prior week included a 12.4% rise.
Yahoo Finance reported the stock is trading just above its year-to-date breakeven level, while a technical pattern flagged by Schaeffer’s Senior Quantitative Analyst Rocky White shows WEN spending at least 80% of recent sessions above the trendline and now moving within 0.75 times the 320-day moving averages’ 20-day average true range.
The report also pointed to positioning and analyst sentiment, noting 33.96% of Wendy’s available float is sold short, and that 17 of 22 analysts have hold or worse ratings.
In options activity, Wendy’s 10-day put/call volume ratio is 1.13, which the outlet said is higher than 87% of readings from the past year, alongside a Schaeffer’s Volatility Index reading of 54%.
