Japan’s July CPI rises to 2.0% year over year
Japan’s core CPI ex fresh food and energy increased to 1.8% year over year, matching market expectations, according to data from the Japan Statistics Bureau.
Japan’s national consumer price index rose 2.0% year over year in July, up from the prior 1.7% reading, according to data released by the Japan Statistics Bureau.
The report also showed that CPI excluding fresh food came in at 1.8% year over year in July versus 1.6% prior, while the measure excluding fresh food and energy rose to 1.8% year over year compared with 1.7% previously.
The CPI release was described as in line with market consensus, with the outlet noting that core inflation excludes more volatile items such as food and fuel.
