Ondo executive links tokenization adoption to ETFs’ early growth path
Ondo said its tokenized Treasury products have about $2 billion in total value locked, and its tokenized stocks platform reached $1 billion in TVL in eight months.
Tokenization is starting to move from early skepticism into broader adoption, and an Ondo Finance executive compared the trend to how exchange-traded funds gained traction over time, according to The Block.
John Hoffman, Ondo’s managing director and head of product portfolios, said ETFs faced similar early doubts about whether the technology works and what problems it solves, and he argued tokenized assets may follow a comparable adoption curve.
Hoffman pointed to specific Ondo milestones, saying the firm began offering tokenized U.S. Treasuries in early 2023 with OUSG and now has about $2 billion in total value locked across its Treasury products. He also said Ondo Global Markets, a platform for tokenized stocks and ETFs, reached $1 billion in TVL within eight months.
The executive added that Ondo’s perpetuals platform has generated about $9 billion in notional volume since launching seven weeks ago, and that the company is preparing to introduce “intelligent portfolios” that bundle tokenized equities into a single token. The Block said Ondo is also hoping that passage of the Clarity Act could help open the door for tokenized products in the U.S.
