Teen entrepreneur trials app to streamline dairy farm paperwork
FarmFlow is designed to cut the paperwork and task scheduling burden that dairy routines can add, and it is being trialled on farms in the UK and Ireland.
BBC Business reports a 16-year-old from County Down, Ben O'Connor, has developed an app called FarmFlow aimed at making farm management more manageable by reducing paperwork and scheduling load.
O'Connor was inspired by his family's shift near Castlewellan from beef to dairy two years ago, a move he says brought longer hours, a more rigid milking schedule, and more tasks to coordinate, which left less time for his family.
The outlet says FarmFlow is currently being trialled on several farms across the UK and Ireland, with plans to roll it out further alongside O'Connor's studies.
BBC Business also notes the app targets compliance work associated with dairy operations, including keeping medical records on the move and tracking tasks that need to be done by specific people, as part of a campaign called Empty Table to raise awareness of the effort behind producing food.
