Lemonade offers pet insurance covering tests, surgeries and preventive care

The insurer says some preventive benefits are available the day after purchase, while other coverages require waiting periods of up to six months.

HousingWire reports that Lemonade Inc. offers pet insurance for cats and dogs, alongside renters, homeowners, and auto insurance.

According to Benzinga, Lemonade’s pet policy is designed in consultation with veterinarians and can cover items such as blood tests, X-rays, lab work, CT scans, and ultrasounds.

The coverage set also includes hospitalization, surgery, emergency pet care, and outpatient care, with additional items like injections and prescription medication, Benzinga said.

Benzinga added that Lemonade requires a wait of up to six months for certain coverages to begin, though it says its preventive package provides benefits starting the day after a policy purchase. The outlet also notes it does not cover pre-existing conditions and uses an AI claims system for claim processing.
