Uzbekistan reportedly takes delivery of PRC Chengdu J-10CE jets
The reported fighter shipment coincides with Uzbekistan talks involving Sinopec and Uzbekneftegaz over joint hydrocarbon extraction on the Ustyurt plateau, with plans tied to deep drilling up to 6,000 meters.
Uzbekistan appears to have received four PRC-made Chengdu J-10CE multi-role combat aircraft, according to multiple reports cited by OilPrice, including one that included a photo of a fighter said to be acquired by the Uzbek Air Force.
Tashkent reportedly has an agreement with Beijing to take delivery of 24 fighters in total, though Uzbek and Chinese officials have not yet confirmed the initial deliveries, the outlet said.
OilPrice also linked the deal to a broader shift in Central Asia's arms market, saying Russia's ability to supply weapons has weakened as its war effort in Ukraine has increased demand at home, leaving it with less capacity for foreign arms deliveries.
In a related thread on energy cooperation, the outlet reported that Sinopec and Uzbekistan's state-owned Uzbekneftegaz are considering a joint hydrocarbons extraction deal on the Ustyurt plateau, where reserves have been identified, and said Uzbek officials have requested Sinopec specifications for technological solutions for wells drilled up to 6,000 meters deep under high reservoir pressure and elevated temperatures.
