GE Vernova backlog rises to $176 billion on AI power demand
GE Vernova said its remaining performance obligation reached $176 billion at the end of Q2, up $13 billion sequentially and 37% year over year.
GE Vernova said its backlog, tracked as remaining performance obligation (RPO), surged to $176 billion at the end of the second quarter, a level the company notes would place it among the world’s largest economies if it were a country.
According to Yahoo Finance, the backlog increased by another $13 billion since the second quarter and is up 37% year over year, reflecting what the outlet describes as strong global electricity investment tied to the AI data center buildout.
The report links the demand to GE Vernova power equipment used for grid and electricity infrastructure, including transmission, switchgear, and transformers, and says grid expansion needs are carrying visibility into the 2030s.
Yahoo Finance also points to especially strong demand for the company’s gas turbine offerings, describing gas as a “bridge fuel” that emits 50% less carbon than coal and helps stabilize grids that rely on intermittent renewables.
