McDonald's starts selling Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer in U.S. restaurants
The energy-drink rollout began Aug. 17, as McDonald's works to boost U.S. visits after second-quarter results that beat on earnings but missed slightly on revenue.
McDonald's has begun selling Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer energy drinks across U.S. restaurants, starting Aug. 17, marking the company’s first entry into the energy-drink category.
The move lands after a mixed second-quarter from McDonald's, where adjusted earnings rose to $3.38 per share versus a $3.32 consensus estimate, but revenue of roughly $7.1 billion fell slightly short of the $7.14 billion estimate, according to Yahoo Finance.
McDonald's shares have been under pressure despite strength in the broader market, down more than 11% in 2026, amid concerns about slower comparable-store sales and execution in the U.S., with U.S. comparable sales up 0.8% in the quarter and global comparable sales up 1.3%.
Yahoo Finance notes the company is betting the beverage launch can drive incremental traffic by targeting consumers who may come in specifically for drinks, a strategy intended to support future earnings growth given McDonald's market capitalization of roughly $189 billion and a trailing P/E of about 22.
