Zillow forecasts CPI shelter inflation will stay near current pace in July
Zillow expects rent inflation of 2.8% and OER inflation of 3.2% in July, with the next BLS shelter CPI figures due Aug. 12 at 8:30 ET.
Zillow Research forecast that CPI shelter inflation will remain close to its current pace for July 2026, using CPI shelter components that feed into the broader inflation reading.
According to Zillow Research, it projects rent inflation of 2.8% and owner equivalent rent inflation of 3.2% on an annual basis for July, as measured through the Consumer Price Index framework.
The next new shelter inflation numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics are scheduled to be released on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026 at 8:30 ET, according to Zillow Research.
Zillow Research said its key takeaway is that CPI housing inflation is expected to hold near its current pace through the period it is forecasting.
