Bitmine buys $81.2 million of ETH in biggest weekly haul since July
The firm now holds about 5.85 million ETH, roughly 4.8% of Ethereum’s 120.7 million token supply, and says reaching its 5% target would require about 6.04 million ETH.
CoinDesk reports that Bitmine, an Ethereum treasury firm chaired by Tom Lee, bought 32,447 ETH last week, worth about $81.2 million at current prices.
The purchase marks Bitmine’s biggest weekly haul since early July, bringing its holdings to 5,847,611 ETH, valued at roughly $14.6 billion, according to CoinDesk.
Bitmine has been adding ETH every week since launching its treasury strategy in June 2025 as it nears a stated goal of owning 5% of Ethereum’s supply, and CoinDesk reports its current stake represents about 4.8% of Ethereum’s 120.7 million tokens.
CoinDesk also notes that Lee linked the buying pace to a rebound in ether, which gained about 30% over the past week, and said similar surges in 2021 and 2025 later preceded much larger gains, while cautioning historical patterns do not guarantee repeat returns.
