Canadian dollar slips as U.S. plans 50% auto tariffs starting in 2027
USD/CAD was up 0.5% to around 1.3830 as the U.S. said it would raise auto tariffs on Canadian vehicles, trucks, and parts effective Jan. 1, 2027.
CNBC Markets reports that President Donald Trump said the U.S. will raise tariffs on imports of cars, trucks, and auto parts from Canada to 50% starting Jan. 1, 2027.
FXStreet reported that the Canadian dollar weakened as a result, with USD/CAD extending its advance Monday and trading around 1.3830, up 0.52% on the day at the time of writing.
