Gemini lines up Apex tie-up to expand CFTC-regulated prediction markets
The planned deal makes Gemini Titan the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through Apex’s futures commission merchant to brokerage customers, with Gemini handling execution and clearing.
CoinDesk reports Gemini is pursuing a tie-up with Apex Fintech Solutions to widen the distribution of Gemini’s CFTC-regulated crypto prediction markets to brokerage clients. Under a letter of intent, Gemini Titan would become the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts that Apex’s futures commission merchant distributes to its customers.
Gemini would provide execution and clearing, which would let brokerages using Apex offer the contracts without having to build direct infrastructure to connect to a prediction-market exchange. Apex’s role is described as operating as a regulated futures commission merchant, handling customer orders and funds for trading derivatives.
The expansion comes as U.S. prediction markets have grown rapidly over the past year. CoinDesk cites Pew Research Center data showing monthly trading volume on leading platforms Kalshi and Polymarket reaching nearly $24 billion by April, up from less than $5 billion in September 2025.
CoinDesk also notes the push builds on Gemini’s regulatory groundwork to compete in U.S. prediction markets, including CFTC licensing for Gemini Titan. The article frames the move as a bid to broaden Gemini’s reach as crypto firms compete for a share of a fast-growing event-contract business.
