Hong Kong opens real-name reservations for Po Pin Chau trail visits
The trial system launched Monday, capping the Po Pin Chau trail at 2,000 visitors per day across four time slots, with advance slots for Sept. 5-6 available via Klook.
Hong Kong has opened registration for its first countryside real-name reservation system, aimed at managing crowds on the Po Pin Chau trail in Sai Kung East Country Park by limiting daily visitors to 2,000. The trial began operating at 11am on Monday, with the first batch of reservations for September 5 and 6 available through Klook’s website, app, and WeChat mini-programme, according to the South China Morning Post.
The booking system splits access into four time slots at 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, with each slot allowing a maximum of 500 people. To complete a reservation, users must provide all participants’ names, telephone numbers, and identity documents, including passports, exit-entry permits to Macau and Hong Kong, China resident identity cards, and Hong Kong identity cards, the report said.
The reservation process also requires contact information, and an e-voucher is delivered by email or can be accessed in Klook’s app or mini-programme after registration. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department says the reservation system applies on weekends between September 5 and 20, the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival weekend starting September 25, and the September 25 to October 7 period covering the National Day holiday, according to the South China Morning Post.
