Study finds Medicare Advantage diabetes care no better than traditional Medicare

The analysis points to fewer health benefits for diabetes patients in Medicare Advantage even with added perks such as grocery and gym programs.

A new study summarized by MarketWatch found that Medicare Advantage enrollees with diabetes are not healthier than people covered by traditional Medicare.

MarketWatch said the finding runs counter to the idea that Medicare Advantage plans improve chronic condition outcomes, including for patients managing diabetes.

The report highlights that the comparison includes the program experience of Medicare Advantage despite the additional non-medical perks often associated with these plans, including grocery and gym benefits.
