Investors boosted Canadian ETF inflows ahead of US-Canada trade talks

MarketWatch said investors moved into Canadian ETFs shortly before the US-Canada trade talks broke down, suggesting the flows were based on an overly optimistic read of the negotiations.

Investors poured into Canadian exchange traded funds in the lead up to US-Canada trade talks, according to MarketWatch.

The outlet said the buying came after investors interpreted the tone on the negotiations as more favorable than events ultimately showed.

MarketWatch characterized the move as a misread of the mood around the talks, noting inflows occurred right before the talks broke down.
