Amazon shuts down Mechanical Turk work platform
CNBC Markets reports that Amazon is shutting down Mechanical Turk, the online work platform that crowdsources tasks to human workers.
Mechanical Turk launched in 2005, aiming to break out jobs that are straightforward for people but difficult for software to complete.
The service was designed to let requesters outsource simple work that computers could not handle reliably at the time of its launch.
