Druckenmiller says he used AI to write critique of Scott Bessent
He opposed the US Treasury’s plan to double the size of government debt buybacks, and the Wall Street Journal editor defended the op-ed as Druckenmiller’s genuine opinion.
Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller said he used artificial intelligence to help write a Wall Street Journal op-ed criticizing Scott Bessent, the US Treasury secretary, for what he described as interference in the US bond market, according to the Guardian Business.
Druckenmiller said he was “proud” of using AI, adding that his ideas were developed over more than 15 years, and he defended the authorship question by arguing the piece reflected his own view, not an AI-generated position.
In the op-ed, Druckenmiller argued against the US Treasury doubling the size of its government debt buybacks, a proposal that he said would conflict with his stance on bond market policy.
The Guardian Business also noted that the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page editor, Paul Gigot, defended the contribution by saying the outlet must ensure the work reflects the contributor’s original argument and credibility.
