Guinness Global Innovators fund highlights Lam Research as AI spending grows
In the fund’s Q2 2026 update, the Guinness Global Innovators Fund returned 13.8% in GBP and pointed to Lam Research shares up 103.0% over the quarter.
Guinness Global Innovators Fund’s Q2 2026 investor update said easing Middle East tensions, lower oil prices, and renewed enthusiasm for artificial intelligence helped reverse earlier caution, with investors rotating back toward growth and AI infrastructure beneficiaries, according to Yahoo Finance.
The fund returned 13.8% in GBP in the second quarter of 2026, compared with 13.0% for the MSCI World Index and 13.1% for the IA Global sector average. It credited an overweight position in information technology for helping performance, while an overweight in communication services detracted.
Within its semiconductor exposure, the fund highlighted Lam Research Corporation, saying the semiconductor equipment makers it holds, including Lam, were among the top performers over the quarter. Lam Research shares were described as up 103.0% over the period, alongside Applied Materials up 111.8% and KLA up 105.2%, and the update also noted Lam shares closed at $314.00 per share on August 21, 2026, with a 1-month return of 7.68%.
Lam Research was framed as a provider of semiconductor processing equipment used to fabricate integrated circuits, with the fund pointing to accelerated demand for AI, high-performance computing, and data center infrastructure as the backdrop for growth into 2027.
