Hackers access Apollo Global cloud platforms, exposing sensitive data
The breach involved unauthorized access between July 6 and July 10, according to Apollo, as the firm’s assets under management recently surpassed $1 trillion.
Apollo Global Management disclosed that hackers gained unauthorized access to some of its cloud platforms between July 6 and July 10, exposing customer information including names, dates of birth, addresses, and Social Security numbers, Yahoo Finance reported.
The cybersecurity incident arrives weeks after Apollo told investors that its assets under management had topped $1 trillion for the first time. The company now faces the added challenge of reassuring clients about data protection.
Apollo’s most recent results showed continued growth, with assets under management at $1.05 trillion, up 25% year over year, and fee-related earnings at a record $785 million, also up 25%. Management fees rose 23% as third-party money continued flowing into credit and equity strategies.
Yahoo Finance also notes Apollo’s ongoing momentum in private credit, including $74 billion of origination volume in the quarter and a separately mentioned $35 billion financing arrangement for Broadcom’s new AI computing platform, Reuters previously described a broader pattern of ransom-seeking attacks targeting other financial and operating firms.
