Roman Storm retrial delayed to April 2027 in Tornado Cash case
The delay follows Storm’s pending motion for acquittal and prosecutors had opposed rescheduling the October retrial.
Cointelegraph reports that federal Judge Katherine Polk Failla adjourned the retrial of Tornado Cash co-founder and developer Roman Storm, moving it from Oct. 26, 2026, to April 26, 2027.
The judge cited Storm’s pending motion for acquittal and his related request for a continuance, according to the order, as the court weighs whether he should face another trial.
Storm’s lawyers requested the delay on Aug. 3, saying they needed at least 90 days after a ruling on the acquittal motion to prepare, while prosecutors opposed an adjournment, the filing shows.
The retrial concerns two conspiracy charges after jurors failed to reach unanimous verdicts in March, and Storm was previously convicted by a Manhattan jury in August 2025 of conspiring to operate an unlicensed money-transmitting business, which carries up to five years in prison.
