Stocks waver as investors weigh inflation data and Nvidia earnings

Tech and semiconductors were slightly positive early on, but Big Tech lagged as Meta slid after agreeing to a multistate settlement over social media addiction claims.

Stocks opened with muted moves on Wednesday as investors digested fresh inflation data and looked ahead to upcoming earnings from AI bellwether Nvidia, according to Yahoo Finance.

In early trading, oil prices continued to fall, providing some support to broader equities. The market saw tech stocks with muted gains, while semiconductors rose slightly and Big Tech names faced mild pressure.

Healthcare stocks were the biggest laggards, followed by Consumer Discretionary, in early moves tracked via Yahoo Finance’s market heat map.

Meta’s shares flipped into red after the company agreed to settle with 29 states over social media addiction claims, while other widely watched names included Microsoft and Boston Scientific.
