Avalanche Treasury approves $10 million share-repurchase after AVAX loss

The $44.7 million second-quarter loss was largely driven by $35.7 million tied to AVAX fair-value changes, realized digital-asset losses, and impairments.

Avalanche Treasury Corp approved a $10 million Class A share-repurchase program after reporting a $44.7 million second-quarter loss, with about $35.7 million of the loss attributed to items linked to AVAX, CryptoSlate reports. The company said the repurchase authorization is one tool to create shareholder value, while it points to a market disconnect.

CryptoSlate notes that the quarter's reported results include accounting-driven effects rather than a one-for-one cash spending measure. The $35.7 million figure reflected fair-value changes, realized digital-asset losses, and impairments, which can move earnings without necessarily matching cash expenditure during the period.

In its Aug. 26 results release, the board disclosed the repurchase authorization, and the filing contained no disclosure of completed purchases or immediate impact beyond management intent. As of June 30, AVAT held 15,312,363 AVAX, with a reported fair value of $99.99 million, underscoring the scale of AVAX exposure behind the earnings volatility.

On the operating side, AVAT reported $1.5 million of staking revenue net of fees in the quarter and $3.6 million for the first half of 2026, plus about $15.2 million of one-time costs related to completing its business combination, according to CryptoSlate. The report also says Nasdaq closed a market-value-of-listed-securities compliance matter after AVAT reported $83.8 million of stockholders' equity, using an alternative threshold of at least $2.5 million, while a bid-price issue remained without closure update.
