MPV Properties seeks extension for RedStone Phase 2 in Indian Land

The two-year extension for RedStone Phase 2 was approved for first reading Aug. 24, with additional hearings scheduled for Sept. 14 and Sept. 28.

Charlotte-based developer MPV Properties is seeking an extension for the development agreement and schedule covering Phase 2 of its RedStone project in Indian Land, south of Charlotte, according to the Charlotte Business Journal as cited by Bisnow.

The Lancaster County Council approved the first reading of a two-year extension at its Aug. 24 meeting. A second reading is set for Sept. 14, followed by a final hearing on Sept. 28.

RedStone is a mixed-use shopping and entertainment center at Highway 160 and U.S. Highway 521, positioned as a gateway to the Red Ventures campus. Phase 1 delivered 79,000 square feet of retail anchored by the RedStone 14, and it was completed in 2017.

Phase 2 would add 350 apartments, 20 townhomes, and about 24,000 square feet of retail space. The second phase was originally approved in 2022 for construction starting in 2023 and delivery in the third quarter of 2026, but market conditions and increased costs paused progress for years.
