Two-thirds of parents have not named an emergency guardian

A LegalShield study found 65% of parents with children under 18 have not designated a guardian, citing indecision, procrastination, and confusion about the process.

MarketWatch reports that a LegalShield study found 65% of parents with children under 18 have not named an emergency guardian in case they cannot care for their children.

The study also said 19% of parents were stalled because they could not decide whom to name, while 18% had not completed the step due to procrastination.

MarketWatch adds that 33% of parents reported confusion about the process, including not knowing how to do it or not realizing it needed to be done at all.
