Invesco RSP tops $100B in assets as equal-weight interest grows
ETF Trends says RSP added $1.5 billion in net new money in July and is up 15.8% year-to-date versus 12.1% for the cap-weighted S&P 500 as of August 27.
Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) has crossed $100 billion in assets this month, a milestone that highlights growing demand for equal-weight exposure to the S&P 500, ETF Trends reports.
RSP holds each S&P 500 constituent at roughly the same 0.20% weighting, in contrast to the traditional S&P 500, which allocates larger portfolio weights to its biggest companies. According to ETF Trends, RSP recorded $1.5 billion in net new money in July, and August inflows pushed total assets above the $100 billion threshold.
ETF Trends also points to performance and market breadth. As of August 27, the S&P 500 was up 12.1% year-to-date, while the S&P 500 Equal Weight Index was up 15.8%. The report frames this as a shift from leadership driven by top-heavy technology and communications toward a wider mix, including industrials, financials, and consumer sectors.
RSP launched on April 24, 2003, and has a 0.20% total expense ratio. ETF Trends notes the fund rebalances quarterly back to equal weight, trimming outperformers that have grown larger and reinvesting into lagging stocks as a way to manage concentration risk.
