Nvidia posts strong Q2 results, but rising costs cloud margins

Revenue more than doubled to $96.2 billion, while Nvidia targeted a 70% revenue increase in 2028 amid cost pressure.

Nvidia delivered a strong second-quarter performance that beat expectations, with revenue for the July quarter rising more than 100% to $96.2 billion. Adjusted profit was $2.22 per share, and its revenue guidance for the next financial year also came in above estimates, according to LiveMint Markets.

Still, the report highlighted mounting concerns about margin pressure as costs rise. LiveMint Markets noted that experts see a tougher profit challenge going forward, even as the company’s AI growth outlook remains intact.

After the results, Nvidia shares gained as much as 7.6% to $225.50 in New York trading on Thursday, adding about $362 billion in market value. The stock was already up 12% for the year through Wednesday’s close, the outlet said.

Nvidia’s CFO Colette Kress said demand is accelerating even at the company’s scale, and that customers’ forecasts point to growth doubling next year. LiveMint Markets also cited Nvidia’s push into the AI supply chain and the strain on memory-chip makers, arguing that capacity gaps for computer memory could keep costs and constraints in focus.
