Trump says Hormuz oil continues, cites daily million-barrel flows
The remarks were framed around market “risk-on” versus “risk-off” dynamics, linking safe-haven flows to the US dollar and other major currencies.
FXStreet reports that US President Donald Trump said during a White House press conference that oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz are continuing, while he characterized Iran as being in “big trouble.”
In the same comments, Trump said that Russia has “behaved quite well” regarding Hormuz and added that millions of barrels of oil are coming through the strait each day, while discussing broader concerns tied to energy and trade.
FXStreet also outlined how “risk-on” and “risk-off” conditions typically affect FX markets: during risk-on periods, investors are more willing to buy higher-risk assets and currencies of commodity exporters tend to strengthen.
During risk-off periods, the outlet said investors generally favor safer assets, with major government bonds rising and safe-haven currencies such as the Japanese yen, Swiss franc, and US dollar often gaining.
